Tonita’s Garden

Tonita’s Garden was established to provide basic necessities and assistance to Black families in our community. 

The garden was named after the founder’s grandmother to honor her history of creating a village for her community members in Boston. Tonita was a pillar in the community, often taking care of the local children in her daycare. She provided for those in need and her legacy lives online through her granddaughter.

  • Classes (breastfeeding and Safe pregnancy)
  • Diapers, baby clothes, and other baby items
  • Blood pressure cuffs
  • Postpartum support

Service area:

To receive services from PHEI you must reside in one of the following communities: East Orange, Orange, Maplewood, West Orange, Irvington, Hillside, Union, Elizabeth, Bloomfield, Newark, Bellville, and Montclair.
