

BLACK MATERNAL HEALTH CENTER
Nationwide, Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than White women. In New Jersey, Black women are seven to eight times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause.You can help build the Lt. Tahmesha Dickey Black Maternal Health Center. It would be NJ’s first such center.The center will implement well researched programs that have been proven to prevent Black maternal deaths through an expansion of the Perinatal Health Equity Initiative (PHEI) programming.

Programs at the Center
This center would include wrap around maternal health services for specifically tailored to mitigate to mitigate black maternal and perinatal death. PHEI’s model of care includes Black healthcare practitioners who have been highly trained in congruent care. In addition to clinical care, the center will programs centering breastfeeding, preeclampsia prevention, relevant educational workshops and peer support groups.
