Where does my gift actually go?
Directly to Mamas in Bloom, PHEI's wraparound support program for Black families in Essex County. Your $8 covers one family for one month: community health worker support, screening for preeclampsia and postpartum complications, and connection to resources.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. PHEI is a registered 501(c)(3). You will receive an automatic tax receipt via email.
Can I change or cancel my monthly gift?
Of course. You can increase, decrease, pause, or cancel at any time by emailing us or using the link in your receipt.
Why $8 for the 8th year?
PHEI turns 8 in 2026. We chose $8 as our invitation amount because we wanted to mark the anniversary with an accessible threshold for community. Every level is meaningful.
What is cardiovascular care at the heart of Black maternal health?
Preeclampsia and cardiovascular complications are a leading cause of Black maternal death, and they do not end at delivery. Black women's cardiovascular risk extends for years after childbirth. PHEI is the only organization in New Jersey building Black maternal health care with cardiovascular follow-up at the center.
